Major League Baseball will be doing something brand new for Mother’s Day this year—players will wear specially designed hats and jerseys on Sunday, May 8 to celebrate the holiday. The uniforms and New Era caps will have the color pink used on the logos for each team, and the hats will feature a dark grey color on the crown and brim.
New Era put together a video, above, with a number of MLB stars honoring their Moms with messages ahead of Mother’s Day. Watch as players like Andrew McCutchen, Jacob DeGrom, David Ortiz, Bryce Harper, and more speak about the impact their mothers have had on them through their careers.
But it's not just about these players thanking just the special women in their lives. Since 2006, Major League Baseball has had players wear pink wristbands and use pink bats on Mother’s Day to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer, and now the rest of the uniform will follow suit.
By the way, for any fathers out there who are a little jealous of the Mother’s Day celebration, don’t fret: the league is also planning to honor them on Father's Day in June with special jerseys and caps.
